Anatomy of our Cruising Sailboat
While sailing from Majuro, the Marshall Islands, to San Francisco, a mere 42-day passage (yikes!), Paul created a website specifically on Cherokee Rose with the goal of helping prospective buyers - and the ultimate owner - know and understand her many systems. He included videos on how to change the engine oil, diagrams of boat parts and explanations about everything from our bilge pumps to pumping up the dinghy. His attention to detail, and thorough documentation, is bound to help cruisers in all stages...from dreaming to doing, so I have included his website in this section.
Aim of Paul's website (in his words):
When we were looking for a boat we found that comparing the usual one page punch lists gave us so little to go on so we spent lots of time and money traveling to see our prospective purchases. The aim of this website is to present EVERY conceivable part of Cherokee Rose to you, using words photos and videos, such that before traveling down to see her, your decision will already have been made. Where appropriate I have also included helpful tips and service information on all of Rosie's features that are not as self explanatory as would first seem...why should you re-invent the wheel? We also have a section on our cruise with stories and photos to try and entice the "on the fence" sailors to quit dreaming and start doing (Kelly's note: read our book, Sailing to Jessica, and be sure to check out the Book Supplement section).
