Boat Alarm
The boat alarm was mounted in the Quarter berth when I purchased the boat and only partially wired in. The remote control for arming/disarming was missing, hence I removed the partial installation. Since then I have purchased two new remote control devices and experimented with installation options.
It is activated under two scenarios:
When armed the alarm will turn on a small LED. I have many LED lights in the Electric Repair Tupperware located in the Pilot Berth in the Salon. They need to be used in conjunction with one of the tiny resistors also in the box. I envisaged mounting the alarm back in the quarter berth for three reasons:
The alarm also came with a limited range pager device to signal you if the alarm was activated. I could never find this hardware and as the range was so limited saw it as a bit of a gimmick anyway.
It is activated under two scenarios:
- A voltage draw, for example the car interior light coming on
- A loud noise or crash of someone breaking in

They need to be used in conjunction with one of the tiny resistors also in the box. I envisaged mounting the alarm back in the quarter berth for three reasons:
- A good location in terms of break in noises
- It is not obviously visible and the sound is so shrill it is not easy to audibly track
- It is close to break in point so sound is the loudest.
- I would drill a hole and mount the LED in the cockpit to mirror the two water pump lights on stbd side, as a deterrant.
