Chapter 13: Land Ho After 22 Days
The girls smiled while they danced, their hips gyrating quickly while their arms and hands gracefully moved, telling a story. A couple of Polynesian men joined the next dance, their bent arms flapping and their bowed knees opening and closing in time with the women’s fast footwork. The men resembled dancing roosters and the contrast between the tantalizing, graceful women and their male counterparts made me smile.
I glanced at Paul to see what he thought of their dancing. Following his gaze toward the prettiest dancer, I doubted that he was even aware of the male dancers. My honey was mesmerized. His jaw was slack and his eyes were locked on her hips as she twirled in place.
I elbowed Paul’s stomach.
He gave me a sheepish grin and whispered, “I can see why Gauguin got into trouble here!”
