Trace Inverter
We have a 2500 Watt Trace Inverter which is powerful enough to run all electrical items on Rosie, including the air conditioner as long as the engine was running (which defeats the object of an air conditioner!) It doubles as a battery charger when on shore power. The unit is located on the bottom shelf under the NavStation behind the roll top door.
As the inverter has a very low current draw we leave it on permanently. It senses when there is an AC requirement then switches on automatically, this sensing is adjustable. Currently this is set low to save power, however it has the down side that certain low draw items are not noticed and do not switch on the inverter i.e. the clock on the microwave also certain cycles of the washing machine. To use these items we just plug in a computer.
There is an LED flashing light status/on/off switch located at the side of the NavStation:
Very fast flashing/flickering - sensing mode, no AC draw.Slow flashing mode - Shore power chargingSolid on - AC current being providedSolid off - Inverter switched off, press the light itself to turn on/off.
