Chapter 5: Life with No Means
Dr. Smith then took the pigs’ feet and gave them each a two-inch incision with her scalpel. She took a needle off her desk, threaded it and, using one of the trotters, showed us how to make basic stitches. It looked easy.
“There,” she said, tying off her handiwork. “Now it’s your turn.”
The room was silent as Paul and I bent over our pigs’ feet.
“Ugh,” I complained. “This skin is so tough, it’s hard to push the needle through it.” I made a couple of stitches then peeked over to see how Paul was doing.
